MIA

winlogo.jpgSorry for all the quiet over the weekend folks. When I got up Saturday morning, my computer had locked up on me overnight. I reset it, and it got stuck in an endless “boot loop”; it does the memory check and hardware check, starts loading Windows, then restarts and does the memory check and hardware check, starts loading Windows, then restarts and does the memory check … you get the idea.

Anyway, I’m not quite savvy enough to troubleshoot it myself, and I wasn’t able to get in touch with my son over the weekend (he’s my computer repairman), so I was offline all weekend. I can operate a computer as long as it’s working perfectly and does exactly what it’s designed to do. The minute it gets cranky, I’m lost. In any event, I’m at work now and have computer access, at least during the day. Hopefully, I’ll get the home model up and running before next weekend. I was actually in withdrawal.

  1. I feel your pain – I lost internet at my home, and when I thought I’d go to work and be able to use the highspeed, I found out it was a holiday :(

  2. Yep. Me too. I had the techs set my firewalls as strong as possible and sometimes I get some stuff that I can’t open but I has rather be safe than sorry.

  3. I’d be in the same boat, MG, were it not for my computer geek husband. I lucked out that way. And I definitely have the better end of the deal. Well, I am the cook in the family, but…

  4. Hey everyone … just stealing a couple minutes at work to post this comment. I have been completely “offline” since Monday afternoon … I went home sick, only to find out that I have Lyme Disease from a tick bite about a month ago. Spend Tuesday and Wednesday at home starting a 21-day course of antibiotics and sleeping the clock around. On Wednesday, thanks to Tropical Storm Alberto, the building where I work was flooded to the tune of 2-1/2 feet of water throughout the building. Our server was submerged. We managed to save the computers, but have had no internet service till this morning. We have one computer up and running, and are taking turns checking our e-mail for backlog and getting in a few minutes surfing. I’ll be back in touch as soon as I can.
