According to a recent article at Free Market News Network, the UN has proposed a new small arms treaty that would effectively ban all gun ownership by all private citizens of all member nations.

Let’s read that again, shall we?

Ban all gun ownership by all private citizens of all member nations.

John Bolton, the recently appointed U.S. diplomat, is quoted by NRA Executive Wayne LaPierre as responding that:

“The United States will not join consensus on a final document that contains measures contrary to our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”

My response: Who in the hell do they think they are? How dare they come into MY country and try to abolish one of MY constitutional rights?

I agree with fellow blogger Rivrdog, who says in his October 30th post:

“Get US out of the UN” used to be a rallying cry of the Far Right. I suggest that “Get the UN out of the US” should replace it, but not just from the lips of ultra-conservatives, it must be on the lips of all who believe that our Constitution MUST ALWAYS supercede any authority of the UN within these borders.

If you agree with me that the Second Amendment, like the rest of the Bill of Rights, is not negotiable, I urge you to support and/or join an organization that will help in the fight to maintain RKBA. Examples: 2nd Amendment Sisters, National Rifle Association, Nation of Riflemen, Revolutionary War Veterans Association, to name only a few. If we sit back and wait for someone else to fight for our rights, we may find that there’s nothing left to fight for.

The Right to Keep and Bear Arms — Use It … or Lose It.
