Jim at Smoke on the Water has posted a piece about a news story in his neighborhood (Galveston, TX). Seems that more and more women are learning to shoot, earning their Concealed Carry Permits, and actually carrying a handgun. But folks, that's not the good news. The best part of this story is that the media carried the story in the first place, and reported it in a level, unbiased manner, without getting all snarly and anti-gun about the whole thing.
This seems like a great opportunity for me to encourage my female readers to learn to handle a firearm (and my male readers to take a lady shooting). There are all kinds of classes and clinics where you can learn to do this safely. It could save your life some day, and besides, it's your right under the Constitution. If you ignore it, it just might go away.
