The Blue Star Mothers Of America, Inc. are mothers who now have, or have had, children serving in the military. We are a non-profit (501[c]3) service organization supporting each other and our children while promoting patriotism. In addition to the support we provide to each other while our children are in harm’s way, we provide support to more familiar organizations such as the USO. We are also active in seeking support for (or in some cases, against) legislation that affects our military.
If you see this flag in a window, on a car, in an office, or on a blog or website, you will know that a child is serving his or her country in our military.
Membership is open to:
A Mother or Stepmother (since the child was of the age of 13) who has a son or daughter who is serving, or has been honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the United States. Services included are the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserve Units, and the Merchant Marines.
Dads, siblings, spouses, and children of our military are eligible for Associate Membership. The Blue Star Mothers have a sister organization, the Gold Star Mothers, who’s membership is limited to mothers who have lost a child as a result of military service.
