The new series of one-dollar Presidential Coins is debuting today, with the release of the George Washington coin. Three more presidential coins will be released this year, and four each year after for approximately 10 years. All deceased presidents will be represented, in order of their service.
Will Americans ever accept the $1 coin? The goal of the powers-that-be is for these coins to be circulated, not collected. In order to help facilitate that, they are going to temporarily stop printing one-dollar bills, in the hope that a scarcity of paper dollars will encourage the use of the dollar coins.
What they need to do is force vending machine manufacturers to retrofit their machines to accept the new coins.
